Milk

Milk is an extremely nutritious, versatile and convenient drink. It also contains far less fat than you would think.

  • Semi-skimmed milk contains only 1.7% fat, on average less than half the fat of whole milk and semi-skimmed milk contains virtually no fat at all.
  • Milk is high in calcium which is essential for strong bones and teeth.
  • One pint of milk of whole, semi-skimmed or skimmed provides at least 85% of the calcium recommended daily amount (RDA) for adults.
  • Milk is a great nutritious drink. As well as being an excellent source of calcium and protein, it contains vitamins and minerals such as zinc, riboflavin (vitamin B2), vitamins B6 and B12. Milk is not a high fat product! A glass of semi-skimmed milk (250ml) contains only 5 grams of fat.
